I bought a USB hub on Ebay.
It came from China and was working initially.
Then, my external DVD-Writer stopped working and after a couple of days I decided to have a look at it.
I found half of it had melted like a lemon sorbet on a hot summers day.
It was a shocking experience and now I have to go back to plugging and unplugging my USB peripherals.

You are to be congratulated Sir! What a fantastic piece of software! It installed so easily and found my AmigaForever. There is so much on there. My Pal, Richard, out West is using this every day and he said it's better than any big box Amiga he ever had. I also bought my A600 memory/clock from you and it is a very nice bit of kit - excellent value. How you find time to develop something as lavish as this [/b]and[/b] run a super on-line store is a miracle!

Quote: This is an interesting PDF. Unfortunately, while it has answered some questions I had about AmigaNG, it has created many more unanswered ones. First of all (I know the Samamtha is not out yet but some people here have alluded to it being available this month or next) are any of the other boards available? Are they shipping with OS4 yet? Are they licensed by Amiga Inc. ? They all seem to be powerful from my perspective - do we need all this power? Sorry if I am asking too many questions - I have read all the topics on this site and I havn't found the answers to these questions.

Over the last few months a number of pieces of hardware have been proposed and/or shown for use with OS4.
I'm confused as well. I was advised that the only board licensed for OS4 by Amiga Inc. is the Eyetech AmigaOne (which I believe, sadly, is no longer manufactured). Shouldnt we wait for an official announcement by Amiga Inc. before we discuss these issues? Isn't it rather disrespectful to Amiga Inc to be discussing, what are probably, company confidential matters.

How right you are! Aweb is everything I need in a World wide web browser. However I am looking forward to trying the Mozilla browser being ported by the heroic English students. I only hope it can successfully run on my A600.

Yes, I would recommend isopropyl alchohol for edge connectors. Be sure not to use this for rubber/rubber like parts as the double bond in isopropyl will denature the rubber. I include conductive contact rubberised keyboard matrices in this warning. For this you need to use methanol which only has single bonds.

Quote: tonyw wrote: So far Amiga Inc have not granted a license to run OS4 on any hardware other than the Eyetech AmigaOne. There are other platforms around, and there has been much discussion about this on other boards .
This is where I get totally confused (and run back to my trusty A600!). I was long under the impression that any board conforming to zico specifications would automatically get a license. I even bought a Matrox card for my Gateway to bring it up to zico specs and got rid of a perfectly good Voodoo 3. Now, here, people tell me zico is irrelevant and AmigaNG is only for PPC and only for one board - which I understand is no longer manufactured. The one thing I understand about my A500 and 600 is that they are Amigas, they run kickstart and workbench and if they break I can buy one easily on Ebay. I think a good FAQ on AmigaNG is required because the more I hear the more confused I get.

Wow! Let me know how much you want! Is it an AdIDE2? I'm not sure about the A590 - I think this wasn't IDE as such but Mitsumi and the like. It would be very hard to find a CDROM with these interfaces nowadays! The AdIDE on Ebay went for $62.50 but it had a problem with the 68k male connector. Were these things autoboot?

Quote: Sister_Rita wrote: @Raziel What is your favourite Amiga computer model and why?
Well, I think my all time favorite has to be the A500. Next the A600 because of it's compact size, built in HDD and PCMCIA slot. I think the CDTV has to be the classiest looking Amiga of all time. (It comes back into fashion every 15 years - when consumer electronics are shipped in black instead of silver.)

1. GFA Basic 2. HiSoft PASCAL 3. Blitz Basic 4. DICE C
If it is 2.04 and later, include AREXX on that list at about 1.5.
Yes, 2. HiSoft PASCAL sounds the most promising. Certainly for someone like the sister who has already used BASIC. The added advantage is that, I know from my time at this site, that Sister Rita is very enthusiastic about the AmigaNG and the OS4.x - and I read somewhere on the world wide web that someone had ported Free Pascal to the OS4.x.

That is interesting - the only one I have seen is on Australian Ebay! Trouble was I forgot to add it to my watch list and I couldn't find it again.

How about Frontier Elite II?
