The main problem IMO isn't PPC speed as for example the X1000 should be fast enough for most of us. The main problem is that we need HW specifically built for AmigaOS4 in batches so small that the HW price is 10x of what comparable X86 HW is.

Lots of people can't afford to get into AmigaOS4 and many of those who got the money won't/can't justify the cost.

It could have been an alternative route to what Hyperion/Acube/A-eon have choosen but I don't see it as an option right now, unless acube stops production of the SAM series.

Different G4 (and G5) macs are readily available at a fraction of the price of a new SAM440. I must admit that IF it was viable for Hyperion to sell OS4 for some specified Macs it would be a nice option for us people with a small economy. As for availability I think the Amiga market could never make the second hand mac market run dry.

Macs are better desktop HW than SAM systems (though modern gfx might be a problem?), so if it was available I'd pick one up right away as I'm without a working AmigaOS4 system right now and can't afford a SAM460 system.

You have got to be kidding, right? Even if I have never used it myself it's impossible to ignore here in Denmark at least (perhaps not available in Poland yet?).

Every day there's some story in the media about Spotify's success, spotify not treating artists good or something else.

Once I can afford a working Amiga again (my XE has become unusable unstable) we might have the port complete and then I will have to see what the fuss is all about.

Diego Cassoran currently have a machine from Amigabounty on loan. He need his own OS4 capable HW so please support his bounty to help him afford it (and free the loaner machine for other another developer).
It would be good to see the avcodec.library featured instead of Qt, asap.

I'd say go for the AmigaOne 500, as I doubt Acube will be releasing new stuff in the near future.

Diego is busy at work with Avcodec as we speak (ok maybe not literally) and have been for some time using only cross-compiler (if I understood him correct) before he got the loaner HW.

Regarding the unassigned bounties they are not evaluated by the team (keep in mind we're slow and lazy!) and no developers so far have shown interest. Is there something for you amongst them? ;)

I'm sure the bounty will see more donations soon, it was just announced and didn't get the publicity the other bounty we just launched got(yet). Also for non-developers (such as myself) it's a bit easier to get why I should donate towards better visuals than an updated library. Both are of course important but it's (to me) a bit harder to sell the library bounty.

I would like to get one to replace my A1 at some point. For economic reasons it won't be in the near future though so I hope it will continue to be available once it hits the market.

BTW:I never understand what the all the secrecy and NDA's are used for in our small community?

Last time I couldn't find my OS4 disc I gave up only to find it in a Cd cover (music) in the car a few days later. Never found out what it did in the car

Cool, I like cheap Chinese hardware, but I want it with AmigaOS4.x not Android. It probably has better specs than the upcoming Netbook, which I suspect is also just a rebranded Limebook.

It's such a shame that PPC is hardly ever used in "our" kind of consumer electronics. Consider the possibilities if we were using ARM today instead, just dreaming.
