You also as eliyhau and rjd324 use SFS and not NGFS ?

Sorry, i don't remember what kind of filesystem my default boot partition uses but probably the very latest NGFS as it "outperforms" sfs when it comes to kickstart loading since a few years back. (i have a mixture of boot partitions with old and new ngfs and sfs).

My uboot is from this year, 2022-01-something.
I can not check it, i only had time for a quick test yesterday and is now stuck with my tabor for the rest of the week :)

@Walkero

I'd say target only the latest os4.
It's so cheap to upgrade so there's no reason to not do it.
Some people might have some mixed components from older versions because they feel they have some problems with later components but it's not easy to support them eighter.

@amiganuts

Sounds like you bought the wrong driver?

It's not clear to me what you bought but the driver you need is AFAIK a direct download only.

This is the driver you need for warp3d

https://keasigmadelta.com/portfolio/warp3d-southern-islands-driver/

And you buy it from amistore http://www.amistore.net/

Super nice!
Working good, i hope the invisible bonuses can be fixed but seems to be fully playable already.

@Kyle

SFS, the currently released ngfs was released premature as they really needed to ship the X5000 with something better than ffs.
iirc it works quite good but has issues with some stuff so for now it's better to take the extra steps required to install sfs.

Hi

I found two posts about this issue on the beta ml but it was never narrowed down i guess.

For one user the message could appear random when using the amiga shell (no error message when using the sh shell)

For another one it could happen when compiling sources from the ram disk:

@xenic

I believe that you need to create a mount file for it or use the mounter tool.
When using it over usb the masstorage uses some kind of automounter.

@rjd324

I had that problem for a while a many years ago.
It went away when I installed a new uboot.
So maybe there was a bad contact between the sd-card and the motherboard or maybe i needed to unplug and replug something else that had poor contact while installing the new card.
5 years later it is still running good 😎

@rjd324

My guess is that you are using ngfs on the x5000?
The very old public ngfs had some problems that odyssey was very good at expose.

@daveyw

Actually ssolie gave permission to include the commercial version of ranger as a contribution for os4.1 fe so you'll find the same version on the cd and on amistore

@Voodoo

I believe that ranger from os4depot is an old version and that you can find a later version
that should work on the x5000.

You can get an updated version from the contributions installer on the os4.1 Fe CD.

I'm not at home so I can't check the versions so you have to check it out if you want a ranger that works on x5000 😎

I do not fully understand what you're having problems with but
have you tried to use the "setclock reset" command?

@walkero

How do you login to discord?
When i try pidgin says:

Need CAPTCHA to login. Consider using harmony first, then retry.

I have a slightly updated version of pidgin that works with messenger again.
Would be nice to try it with discord too.

Re: AmiUpdate connection error

@rjd324

Amiupdate and updater are two completely different things.
Updater is used to update stuff fron a-eon and amiupdate is shipped with amigaos.
There is also a tab for third party apps in the updater tool but i'm not using it and don't know anything about it.

Amiupdate was widely used in the past to deliver updates to amigaos but sadly for some reason it's not used so much anymore but also third-party software can be updated from amiupdate.
third party software just needs to be in the amiupdate database.
There is a list of third party software on the net but i think it's unavailable atm.

@rjd324

What computer are you planning to use the nic in?
And is it a card that uses the RTL 8139 driver?

I would avoid it on any of my computers and i have Peg2 and X5000.
It was many years since i used it on the peg2 and iirc i quickly switched back to use the internal nic but i did use it more recently on my X5000 and the speed/stability was nowhere near the speed i got from the rtl 8169 card and the more recent driver for the internal nic.

A nic is very cheap so just go for the rtl 8169 anyway.

Re: X5000 capacitor fell off ...!!!!!

I'm not trying to convince someone with little soldering experience to do repairs on an X5000 but i just want to know why people are so scared of SMD soldering?

SMD soldering requires less heat/power than trough hole soldering so in a way it's easier to perform especially if it's just a cap.
Just place it on the pads and add a little heat and solder and the process is done.

Stuff with more legs is ofcourse a little more advanced and requires more practise.
