So it seems there isn't much connection between Kouri and the new Nokia company (mobile phones).

AFAIK no. Nokias last 15 years are been time without skeletons in carpet. And company is not in stage, where buy-split parts-sell-philosophy works.

And don't know, if he fits very well to company profile today.

Kallasvuo (CEO of Nokia) forgot to pay customs, when he flight from mid- Europe to Finland. Sum was relativelly small, and still it was problem for Nokia, so they take care today pretty well...

In any case I don't think that Kouri is interested in AmigaOS or Amiga as we remember it.

Neither I do.

@GregS

About Nokia&Kouri

He was at Nokia around mid eighties. Before Nokia start to grow up, as we know it today. These days it was really much smaller.

It started to grow and convert to international cell-phone and network company with next CEO and after Kouri. At that time they made rubber boots, passenger car tyres, electronics and first "cell"phones.

Nokia tyres is alive and well even today, alltough separate company. other parts I really don't know.

BTW Kouri was shareholder and tried put Nokia to pieces and sell it.

At least "Nokia connection" is different, what we see today as Nokia.

No human readable links avail, only finnish language ones.

If one want to start study finnish, here you are : Nokia Oyj:n historia, ISBN 951-37-34676. (history of nokia, 975 pages, from 1916 to 2001) . Partially joke, I don't know, if it is translated to english or not. Anyway it is said to be honest book about Nokia, with all smoke and mirror games and deep crisis, where company was at eighties.

Womens ...

For reason or other I hang on phone 30-40 hrs/mont. Altough my job is on-site computer support (win and linux)and real work with computers, not phone, I tend to use phone guite lot. i have to call allso, clients want to talk with me (such a nice guy...?) and since I'm oldest and most experienced in our company, working mates has too much to talk with me...

I tested, can I reach limit, but it was impossible. After I felt, that I don't never will use phone anymore...

At least you should make two things, before you buy nokia. first ask your operator update sw before use. Then try it extensively.

If your primary target is phone calls and messaging, nokia is good. calendar is allso pretty fine.

if you need surfing "on the road", you may need to test, if it suits to your needs.

Nokia has before quite user-oriented friendly UI, today I have difficulties to find settings-like things...

I use phone for surfing quite lot at work in situations, where client network is down and I need some info from internet.

Dunno know, how well win ce based phones work, but somehow I feel, that s60 is far from perfect anyway. Alltough it can be buggy phone allso.

iPhone can change things and definetly OS4 based phone should definetly change whole world to different _AND_ better place to live.

There is allways room for amiga-is-good ranting...

have nice day

@AmiGame

Hi

Phone came with usb-cable, but i try to get serial one, in case it is possible.

I think,that connector is all the same than earlier models.

I have all budled in the bill, calls 3000 minutes/month, sms 3000/month and surfing as much I can. All 60e/month. Never tried to call 3000 minutes? i tried very hard, after 2700 minutes I was allmost ready to mental treatment ... , add there incoming phone calls from clients...

surfing experience ... It is, what you can wait with nokia sw and incomplete 3g in here Finland. Buggy, freezing phone, browser exits without notice and so on. Phone has wifi ability, so it is sufficient way to surf. Using via laptop only harm is pc-suite sw, otherwise ok.

Phone is nokia e70 (and provided for me by my boss), if you are intrested.

@Swoop

You can try formaldihyd package, it is for Aldi/Tevion/Aiptek/WacomIV/SummaGraphics/AceCad boards:

http://www.platon42.de/index2.html

Or from aminet summadigizer, for summagraphics compatible tablets.

Of course your tablet have to be compatible.

I have not possibilities to test myself, because of A1se broken usb. So no idea, if they can use usb-devices...

@acefnq

For you or anyone who need to go inside of computer case.

It is good practice to leave power cord connected and shut down power supply from button (back of psu). If you don't have button, then you need to disconnect power cord.

That way case stay connected to ground and you can be grounded via case before handling electronics.

This is easy and cheap way avoid electrostatic shocks.

I know that I repeat myself but with this ppl can keep their rare and bloody expensive amigas running longer time ...

Sii3114 bug ?
Just popping in
Just popping in

Setup:

a1-se, sii0680 sii3114, wd 80 gb pata hd, st 120 sata hd , plextor px-712 sata dvd/rw.

sata hd is in port1 (first port), dvdrw in port 3. Mtb reports id 0 to hd and id 3 to dvdrw. If i plug dvdrw to 2nd port, mtb report id 2. If i plug dvdrw to port4, boom, no dvdrw. Same applies to hd. So port 4 is inaccessibe/unusable.

again and clearer:

sil3114 port mediatb id
port1 id0
port2 id2
port3 id3
port4 nothing

sometimes,when I boot, sata hd is not found at all. Dvdrw is allways there. Exept if plugged to port4.

broken sil3114 or bug?

@haslenuts

I have mixed setup with sil 0680 and 3114. I was unable to see my 3114 drives in media toolbox until i add tooltype device=sii3114ide.device. This made trick and when i started mtb, list of devices was complete and 3114 drives was accessible. this seems to be bug in mtb (?) in 4.0final. Without i got 0680 only, with tooltype even floppy.device appear to list ...

try add tooltype adevice=lsi53c8xx.device and check what happens.

hope this helps some
