Here are some more comparison results of MiniGL4GL4ES vs. Warp3D SI

- DarkPlaces Quake Engine Version 0.95 beta 1:

In general the colors are too bright and vivid. Grenade Launcher explosion effects causes slowdown (When the selfplaying demo starts and the demo player kills the first Chainsaw-Guy)

I also found a case where MiniGL4GL4ES wins:

The Switches (red/green) appear using the Warp 3D SI Driver only when the player is almost directly in front of them.


- Giddy 3 (2nd May 2009):

Shows randomly black flickering Background during Gameplay

Was someone able to use a Joystick/Joypad with the E-UAE build linked inside this thread?

Indipendent of the connected Joystick/Joypad it prints always the following into the log:

Tried it on my X5000 + R9 280X and compared it to the Warp3D SI Driver. Besides it is called an early Version it workes great.

Maybe the following Information helps to improve MiniGL4GL4ES even more:

The Game "Cube" from OS4Depot (20 Nov 2010) runs pretty slow using MiniGL4GL4ES and when opening the Menu (ESC) inside the Game it shows a diagonal Line in the Menu -> wild guess: Adds an additional Line between first and last vertex which are used to draw the menu rectangle.

Tried it some minutes ago. X-Moto Version Info: 1.3 (15.07.2010) - Last changed 24th June 2012. Also crashes on my X5000 + R9 280X. But since it is in my X5000 Games directory it might worked before Updating something.

it's possible to use modern Wireless Gamepads (Xbox One S/Nintendo Switch/PS3/...) on AmigaOS 4. You just need a little USB-Device called MAGIC-NS.

Tried this too. Updater downloads a file called "TSMC_aos4.lha" but cancels the download with a comparable error message.

The downloaded file is not an lha archive but a text file. It contains the following text: "Error: File Not Found"

Hi,

i bought "The Secret of Middle City" in the AMIStore. However i cannot download it. When i open "My Purchases" in the AMIStore OS4 App i can see "The Secret of Middle City" but when i click on download it shows me immediately the following message:

Error: TSMC_aos4.lha file is corrupt on download
Expected file size: 85845219 Downloaded file size: 0
Expected file CRC32: 291936288 Downloaded file CRC32: 0
Select RETRY To try download again or SKIP to ignore error.

I tried it multiple times and this problems occurs only with "The Secret of Middle City" all other downloads of previous purchases work as expected.

I contacted A-EON / AMIStore already two times (one time in may) but never got any response except:

"We will respond within two business days of receiving the email. Hotmail/Gmail Users: add bla @a-eon.biz to your Safe Senders List / white list."

Any help would be much appreciated

What you mean is that your sound card converts everything (you normally hear with the analog stereo plug) to digital audio which is called PCM Audio, what i mean is (marked bold in my own quoted text) is AC3 - Audio and that you can hear anything from it, you have to install this tiny piece of software OS4 AC3 Audio Codec.

And this tiny piece of software is 100% executed by the CPU in our Amigas, without it, at least with DvPlayer you will hear no Sound when playing mpeg files muxed up with AC3 Audio ! But when just passing through the AC3 Audio Stream the CPU and the Audio Chip have to do a really easy job, cause the DECODING is done by external AC3-Decoder Hardware such as an amplifier.

My personal AmigaOS 4 future wish list:

1. New 3D Graphics Subsystem supporting at least the FULL OpenGL 2.0 (or greater) specification. Never again a 100% CPU based and hungry implementation of Transformation and Lighting. No more (again CPU hungry) wrapping like currently OpenGL->MiniGL->Warp3D->Picasso96 it does.

2. Making the second core of NEMO working under OS 4.x

3. Support for more than ~1,75 / (2 GB) main memory

4. Adding support for the digital outputs of modern sound cards. In drivers and their related control panel. This would also boost DVD playback (especially) on the low entry OS 4 machines, cause currently the cpu has to convert the digital ac3 audio stream to stereo which costs a significant amount of performance. When using digital audio out - no need for audio processing -> just pass through !

5. New memory management system offering full Memory Protection and support for a Task Manager


and the last one a more or less funny one:

Implementation of the original AGA Chipset for the XCORE :D
