Condolences to his family from me as well. I have very fond memories of Fred Fish's contribution to the Amiga scene back when it was really fun.

and this is the problem - warp3d does not work, if the libs are not placed in the "first" of the assigns.
so i just copied them from SYS:LIBS to Programs:LIBS and now it all works fine.

Warp3D scans for libraries via a DOS call:

err = IDOS->MatchFirst((STRPTR)"libs:Warp3D/HWdrivers/#?.library", ap);

I assume this doesn't work with added assigns, hence it doesn't find any...

Another thing to try: use a CD-R disk instead of a CD-RW. The cost is negligible.

I would like to remark that I've installed it ten times from different CD-RWs without problem.

When using a CD-RW, make sure it's erased correctly.

PS: I'm doing an update instead of a fresh install...

Don't do that, it will fail.

There are numerous pitfalls, the missing Tools is one of them, or the old AHI drivers that don't work anymore, etc...

Make a backup of your system disk, and re-format it, then do a clean install... There is a reason we're not offering an Upgrade option anymore...

And if you get this "Object in use" message, it means that you are trying to install over the system you just booted. You would be better off booting from the CD.

Right now, on Amiga, we must focus on basic application.

Uhm, to be honest, and from what I hear with people working on Mac game ports, the chances of new titles for MacOS are getting a lot thinner now that Windows works on those new Intel Macs. A lot of people working on these things complained about that.

Oooooh,... did i miss something, there is a port of Freespace 2???

Will it be commercial (the port), from Hyperion, or is it a "hobby project"?
Is it 3D dependant? (Most surely) So no 3D hardware, no go?
I got a Radeon9800, will i be able to use it?

Wow...eehhm, when i can have it .. WE have it?

It's a hobby project, and yeah, it's 3D dependent.

I haven't released it yet mainly because the sound still sucks (it's off by a few fractions of a second).

I might just release the source code so somebody else can pick it up.

As shoe already said, you should replace your battery. If you hook up a serial terminal and see the U-Boot output like this:

Quote:

U-Boot 1.1.6 (Nov 21 2006 - 15:03:06), Build: 11/20/06

CPU: MPC7450 v2.1 @ 800 MHz
Board: AmigaOne
DRAM: 512 MB
FLASH: 0 kB

This is usually an indication that the battery is dead.

(And don't mind the 1.1.6, it's an experimental version )

Never got any mail from you. Who did you send them to ?

Besides, AmigaOS4 for classic isn't a "project" in the sense that it's a community effort. It's a commercially developed OS.
