Yes, OS4.x is apparently developed by a clueless bunch of village idiots who have no idea about innovation. All the new features they've introduced are retarded and un-Amigan. They should have asked you before they started with the work.

This is only supposed to happen when you hit the "save" button, what has changed?
This is not true. With the introduction of application.library some five years ago, apps registered with the REGAPP_SavePrefs tag can have their settings stored in ENV(ARC): automatically at exit time, ie. without the user hitting a Save Prefs button. By write-protecting your system partition, you also prevent the system or applications from storing environmental variables.

As it seems, it is important that you devs step in and explain things. Amigans tend to be suspicious of new features, and the fact that they often refuse good concepts probably stems from a lack of information or misunderstanding.
I know that "power to the people" is the key phrase for Amiga, but the fact that users are replacing WBStartup prefs with the old WBStartup drawer, or making scripts to wipe the APPDIR, is worrying. They are creating custom-modified setups that will be prone to bugs, difficult to update, and hard to debug for. They wouldn't do it if they knew how the features work and what they are for. And if the developer team were more strict on people who modify their OS in such ways.

Paul, a lot of work has been put into the latest version of TuneNet, wow! I have rediscovered the beauty of Internet radios thanks to your program!
One small feature request, though: in the Preferences/Radio tab, could you possibly add a slider for setting the default number of stations to be scanned? The station I listen to most frequently, bassdrive.com, never gets among the first 100 and I always have to increase the number and scan again manually.
Thanks for all your efforts!

How can you do that without the header files ?
I updated WordNet to launch the program homepage from the About requester, and I didn't need any header files. It was just some three lines of code: if (url = IDOS->Open("URL: http://www.homepage.com", MODE_OLDFILE)) { IDOS->Close(url); } and that was about all. See SYS:Documentation/Handlers/launch-handler.doc for more information.

@328gts
Working: - iPod Nano 8GB - SanDisk Cruzer Mini 128MB - Sony Ericsson T700 mobile phone
Devices that DO NOT work: - Transcend JetFlash 4GB (gets recognized but the OS complains about "broken cluster geometry" - works fine on the PC, though)

AmiDock really needs updating. It should either allow icon scaling, or at least respect the scaling ratio set in Workbench prefs. Another thing is adding programs through drag-and-drop (= appwindow support). AmiDock itself does support it but not the AmiDock settings window - the behaviour should be consistent.
I like the idea somebody suggested above, that the USB attachment message could be displayed via Ringhio.

The old problem with the very first key stroke "stolen" still seems to be there. Just reboot, open the shell and write something - the first letter will be missing.

I've noticed a problem with the PNG datatype under OS4.1 Update 1. Pictures loaded via the datatype (using MultiView, bitmap.image etc.) have artefacts in them. I get the artefacts in both 16bit and 32bit screens, with compositing on or off.
EDIT: This only seems to affect some PNG pictures. Those pictures were displayed fine by the previous version of the datatype.

The do work, sort of - just keep the right mouse button pressed and wait a little longer. I reported the very same bug for the program SoundFX years ago. The author could not find what the problem might be.

It's been mentioned (at Pianeta Amiga I think) that the update will contain some kind of openurl.library replacement. Is that true? What kind of replacement it is? How can programmers make use of it?

CLIMM is very portable, and has a 68K version already. If somebody makes it compile in GCC/CubicIDE and work under OS4, I'll happily write a GUI for it, just like I did with the WordNet dictionary. www.climm.org

@ChrisH Quote: I hope with Update 1 coming sooooon (honest guv), and X1000 showing that better machines cost rather more (probably), and Firefox & Blender ports coming, that we will actually see a lot more Sam440 sales this year (from "fence sitters").
To improve SAM sales, the price of the X1000 had better be much higher than that of a complete SAM system. If the difference were mere 300-400 dollars, I guess people would rather go for the X1000 because it offers a completely different level of performance.

No way! Software download counts from OS4depot will give you a clue - my estimation is that no more than 600 SAMs have been sold so far.
