Open Tyrian: best shoot for OS4

Yes, I've just downloaded Open Tyrian from OS4 Depot and it is, in my opinion, the best shoot'em up for Amiga OS 4. Fast, using only 60% of my CPU (G3/800) which is very good since the game is using SDL (if I understand correctly), playable with the mouse, not too difficult, etc.... Well, an excellent game with great sounds and music. Thanks a lot Varthall

@spotUP Thanks for having contacted them. Too bad there won't be any SymMOD replayer for AmigaOS 4 since EaglePlayer doesn't use AHI and doesn't work either with NallePuh

@SpotUP: Have you ever listened to one Symphonie Module? If no, i encourage you to do so. For technical informations on this format, don't you think that if I had some, I would keep them for me? If I ask for this particular format support, it is only because Symphonie Modules are the best modules (for me) ever made on an Amiga (nonetheless, to be able to hear them correctly, an 040 or better, an 060 was mandatory, since the tracker uses some kind of virtual DSP). If I was abe to play them on AmigaOne, I would not ask for SymMod support. And if I was able to make un plugin for this format, I would gladly make it

@Mikey_C One here again: Previously long link(yes, the link is rather long but since I did not find any explanation on how to insert a link correctly, I'll let MickeyC do it). Edit: Amended Long Link - Mikey C Type [ url ] your mega long link] Title [ /url] But remove the spaces I've put in the brackets. Edit: to explain manual usage of BB code - Outcast

Re: Some questions regarding OS4 for Classic Amigas

In my opinion, when a serious Classic OS4 users base has taken place, many unexpected drivers will come.
It has always been like that on Amiga. Remember the AmigaOne and its onboard sound?
I think we should wait for the release of AmigaOS 4 Classic and then we'll see many little drivers coming from everywhere (hopefully).

I tried to install SFS/02 on my USB HardDisk.
Al goes ok, SFS/02 is used but when I try to get the latest Mandriva on this disk, the maximum lenght of the file is 2,1 Gb.
I thought that with SFS/02 I could write a file well over 4Gb.
What is going wrong?

@MamePPCA1
If you've got assigns for Cygnix in your user-startup, remove (ou uncomment) them and try again.
Anyway, Quake 3 for AmigaOS 4 is very buggy and not very stable, sad because I like playing this kind of game too.

@Helge If you use Dnetc 68k (under WinUAE ou Amithlon), it won't notice it is a PC, it will count it as AmigaOS/68k. Moreover, the rules haven't change since a very long time And don't forget to check: http://www.acggbg.org/proxy/ogr/ which is updated daily and was also created for Amiga

@AmigaPapst
Wrong. Only with PowerPC based Amigas (WarpUp or PowerUP or AmigaOS 4) you can crunch for PPC/AmigaOS.
The PowerPC AmigaOS is a generic term to list the above. There are no specific stats for AmigaOS 4 only.

@Valiant
No problem here with the July update.
Nonetheless, during summer, I stop crunching since my AmigaOne is the only Amiga I own and I wouldn't want to see my G3 fry.
