re-compile with pthread
Just popping in
Just popping in

regarding the current pthread.library/thread.library discussion, wouldn't it be necessasary to recompile AmiCygnix with the new SDK's pthread.library instead of old thread.library? During installatoin of AmiCygnix, at least, installation of thread.library is demanded as far as I remember.

thanks,

@Chris

indeed, the freezing disapeared after disabling that option.
(actually, i'm posting right now with NetSurf).

It seems to work nice, so far

Just a short remark: On e.g.:

http://www.tamar.net/phpBB

NetSurf takes quiet a while until the page is loaded and then scrolling is slow. (maybe due to some javascript in that page?)

However, works far better than the previous version.

A quick test on PegasosII:

NetSurf immediatly causes an entire system freeze if i try to resize the window (Resolution: 1440x1050@32).

In 1024x768 it seems to work, though.

AmiCygnix uses threads.library and not pthreads.library as well. Would be nice to have an update here, too

here:

It is not possible to click on the "Log me automatically .." Checkbox. This didnt work in any OWB version. But it seems to be a normal -metatag?:

Log me automatically each visit:

@smf

I get also a grimreaper immediately after choosing the screen resolution (so right before quake starts).

I gnoring it makes it possible to play Quake ..

The great addOn Malice also works fine with this quake version (but also only with grimreaper).

Increasing the stack doesnt solve the problem.

GLQuake would be even more fun How about a gl version of quake? The one availabe doesn't work with Malice! And there are some cool levels in Malice which only can be found/entered and played with GL-Extension

Sorry, forgot the most important thing: I tested it on Sam440ep with AOS4.1

@cygnusEd

sorry for misunderstanding you with respekt to abc-shell. I know, as you've already said, that there's no xterm. I didn't want to pick on you in any way.

Thanks for your great work!

P.S. that's why i said "possibly dumb". Now i know it was not "possibly" but "dumb" :-|

@LiveForIt

no, it's not better. Pressing "continue" worked never for me. "ignoring" the GR does sometime work (but if it works for an application, then it works always for that application).

@Mrodfr

Software-Rendering mode works, hardware-rendering doesn't work on Sam440ep & AOS4.1 (68k & WarpOS).

The inital movie doesn't work with AOS4.1 and the system crashes. A solution for this is to rename it such that the video is not played anymore.

After switching on Motion-Blur or Geround-Shading there's a GrimReaper but it can be ignored and you can play the game without further problems.

AmigaInput is not fully supported, means, for example you cannot configure all buttons of a PSX Pad.

All in all , Payback and FibleFiles are the only WarpOS-Games that work for me on AOS4.1. So, great job

About Gnash's Youtube support read this article on Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnash
Gnash can play FLV videos like the ones on youtube, but you have to download them first, and you don't need gnash for that, you can play FLV videos with mplayer and some other programs as well. Viewing videos on youtube, as well as nearly all other similar sites, with the gnash plugin in a browser doesn't work.

Last time I checked that (2-3 months ago, i guess. I'm not a youtube fan ), I was able to play youtube videos with Gnash&Firefox on LinuxPPC (with PS3)). It worked there without problems and without the need to download the FLV-video first. It was played as an embedded video in the youtoube page.

But I agree, on other flash-video sites, gnash caused problems or was not able to play the embedded video at all. Nevertheless, for youtube it worked fine

As far as I remember, DMA is turned on by default.

Thanks for clarification! But DMA is turned off by default.
("idetool -l sii3114ide.device" shows PIO-Mode
and "nvgetvar" shows that the variable "sii311fide_xfer" is not set.
)

After finding out how to check/enable uboot-env-variables, i was able to enable DMA by issuing the command:

"nvsetvar sii3114ide_xfer G00G"

Now the above idetool-command shows for my HD:

Xfer mode : best pio 12 (PIO 4, 16 MB/s) / best dma 70 (UDMA 6, 133 MB/s) / current 70 (UDMA 6, 133 MB/s)

and for my CD:

Xfer mode : best pio 12 (PIO 4, 16 MB/s) / best dma 66 (UDMA 2, 33 MB/s) / current 66 (UDMA 2, 33 MB/s)

I tested the "speed" by backuping my HD with Diavolo 2000.
I have the impression that it is now 4 times faster than before But perhaps I just want to believe (like Amiga users always do!)

@SoundSquare

Poor framerate? Do you use the gpu3d-plugin (or how is the hardware rendering modul called?)? Forsaken is running extremly smoothly on my Sam440ep (but Forsaken seem to have a poor resolution of only 320x240 in-game ?).

Re: OpenArena 0.8.1 released!

@Hans

i finally managed to connect my sam to some audio device :D
And now, the problem with OpenArena is easy to see (or to hear )
Sund is crappy and stucks at the same note in the first arena of Tier1 (that's probably the reason for these 0 fps?). In level 3 of Tier 1, sound is not perfect (every few seconds there's a glitch) but more or less ok.

So, could be sound the problem for the low framerates on SAM?

@TiredOfLife

Are you sure, that you're then still in GL-Mode? IF so, then I'm perhaps as well. I thought, it would switch to software rendering. If not, then gl-mode looks quiet ugly

I there a way to check if it's gl-mode or software-mode during playing?

Thanks,
nexus.

@Capehill

I tried lowest possible resolution with lowest possible detailes, etc.
Still, I don't get more than 0 FPS in the first arena of tier 1.
