Re: USB Printers & OS4.1 on Samflex

Talk about DOT4 printers:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r18459897-F5L009-USB-Network-Hub

Quote:

If your HP MFP printer model works then its got TRUE USB support -- so I would suggest that you keep the SX-2000U2 -- the quality of Silex firmware is excellent. The 'cheaper' HP all use DOT4 to emulate a USB port - that is the reason that those models will not work because the SX-2000U2 expects to see a 'TRUE' USB port and not one that is being emulated

We should in future think about a universal printer server/driver, using PDF.

@all

Here is a list to go through :

from post #4, they use software that communicates with dot4 protocol printers.

http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?p=217917

NETGEAR Print Server Compatibility List (MFP)

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1093/related/1

PS: i like Canon or HP multifuction printers myself

hope this helps

Edit: I would prefer a NEW printer for the bounty, so new users can buy a new printer, with latest functionalty and other bounties to get printer functions up-to-date.

@Plaz

According to the Executive Update 3rd Jan 2000
http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/jan3rd2000.html

Here is what was acquired from Gateway:

1. All trademarks logo's etc.
2. All existing inventory of Amiga International
3. All existing licenses.
4. License to All Amiga patents (Gateway still owns the patents, but we are able to use them).
5. All web sites, and registered domain names.
6. The Amiga OS and all that is associated with the OS.
7. The Amiga operation as it exists today.

Acer now OWNS Gateway 2000, so Acer OWNS Amiga patents.

On October 16, 2007 the acquisition by Acer became final and Gateway became a privately held company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Acer.
The board of directors resigned and a new board was appointed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway,_Inc.

Maybe Acer dont know what they have ?

Has Hyperion a partnership with ACER ?

Is Hyperion interested in PA-RISC based Amigas ? SPARC64 VII ?

But ACER still OWNS Amiga.

Has Amiga Inc any current/future plans relating to Amiga OS, or are they not interested in the Amiga platform ?

Do Amiga Inc and Hyperion share the SAME or different Amiga OS, Amiga related right/assetss ?

In terms or rights/assets are both companies on equal footing ?

Does Hyperion have to pay anyone Royalties for Amiga related stuff ?

Have any money / technology / assets exchanged or to be exchanged ?

Has Hyperion management changed from the beginning to now ?

Is Hyperions goal for Amiga OS changed now and/or more determined ?

Bluetooth is FREE.

Q: Where can I get Bluetooth specification ? Is it license free ?
A: Bluetooth specification can be downloaded from Bluetooth.com which has more comprehensive information about Bluetooth.com and its SIG. It is totally free and no license is required to use it.

Re: multiplatform MMOG GUI ?

@angelheart

Yes we have lua for Amiga, but I dont think we have VGUI ?

I dont know how hard it would be to port VGUI to Amiga, but using lua to pars GUI code and converting to another GUI should not be too hard.

multiplatform MMOG GUI ?

Amiga does not have a standard set of GUI for games, especially MMO games and easy to port to Linux/Windows.

I have noticed, that games like Tales of pirates on PC, uses LUA scripts to create platform independant GUI.

A common GUI for MMO games is using VGUI / LUA.

Valve uses Lua/vgui also, to create HUD:

http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Adding_Lua
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Lua_tutorial

VGUI tutorial
http://wiki.garrysmod.com/?title=Lua:VGUI_Basics

Does an Amiga version of Vgui exist for Amiga ?

So technically I think, using the LUA examples above we could MAP/PORT Amiga GUIS ?

EG: Reaction <-> MUI <-> VGUI(Amiga) <-> VGUI(PC) <->Any GUI(PC/MAC/Linux)

I think it would be one step closer, porting GUI to/from Amiga to other platforms.

It would also be a great asset in games.

Re: Assigned project: Graphical Common Download Manager
Just popping in

@orgin

This is great news !

Always advancing apps and OS :)

I hope the downloader will store URL of downloads too.

For example a website that has links to EG Rapidshare, downloaders store the rapidshare link, but not the page with the original URL.

On FireFox i have a dowload manager plugin :

http://downloadstatusbar.mozdev.org/index.html

This shows different colour progressbar according to speeds, I have mine at red, orange, green :)

It does not have acceleration, so I have a seperate download manager for that.

CRC checks etc would be cool too.

If the download manager is modular enough, could other software make use of it ?

AREXX port for automation ?

keep up the great work guys !
