How to use multimedia keyboard with Synergy?

Someone was chucking an old multimedia keyboard away today, so I took it home and played with it until it worked.. and it goes great! But the multimedia keys dont work. Thats the whole reason I wanted it.. I'm sharing the keyboard from the PC using Synergy. The Synergy server runs ont he PC, and the synergy client runs on the Sam. Now I'm typing this post fine on OS4.1, but I cant seem to see any multimedia key presses in Allkeys.... and I think I know why, but I need this confirmed..... Synergy is a commodity. Problems? (Synergy is sofware that shares 1 keyboard and mouse between many computers over the network) Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synergy_(software)

@Raziel MY firefox has been modified heavily, so that its a lot easier on my eyes.... But I downloaded all the fonts I needed from that site listed above: Courier_New.ttf Courier.ttf Times_New_Roman_Bold.ttf Times_New_Roman_CE.ttf Times_New_Roman.ttf Verdana_Bold_Italic.ttf Verdana_Bold.ttf Verdana_Italic.ttf Verdana.ttf then used: MINFONTSIZE=10 FONTXDPI=98 FONTYDPI=98 FONTKERNING FONTHINTER=1 And makes it match MY pc's setup fairly closely.. although some sites just look a bit odd. Amigaworld.net could look a little better for instance. But just compare my two screenshots and you'll see the difference between using chunky anti aliasing, and thinner anti aliasing.. EDIT: you may need to use these settings in your Typemanager prefs? click on the font, then click modify, then choose the Hinter.. http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/problem/hinter.pngEDIT2: Ah, amigaworld.net uses Arial which looks not as good on my setup with FONTHINTER=1 .. I need to play with it some more. P.S. sorry if the things I've typed are a little inaccurate..

@jahc I figured it out! I played with the auto hinter in Typemanager for the Verdana font.. found the light one I liked.... then I set the OWB tooltype to use FONTHINTER=1 (which was the first entry in the hinter cycle gadget in the Typemanager prefs).. this is the result! old chunky style: http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/problem/1.pngnew slim style: http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/problem/2.pngI have my thin fonts now, and I learned a little more about the os4 font system! EDIT: Oh, I will tweak it a little more to make the dpi settings look nicer. But thats basically the size I want and already use on the PC :)

@sundown
No that size is too small, and it still looks terrible..
I already had the MINFONTSIZE set to 11 or a similar value..

Increasing OWB font sizes [solved]

I've found a great site for downloading freeware "legacy" fonts (And others too, but I only wanted the windows ones, such as Verdana, times new roman, etc). If anyone wants to check it out, it has EVERY standard windows font you'll need I think! http://www.free-fonts-ttf.org/true-ty ... -italic-8562-download.htmBut getting back on topic.. these icon tooltype values look good as they are: FONTXDPI=84 FONTYDPI=84 .. but they're a little too small for my eyes. I always increase my font sizes in my browsers..... I'm trying to get OWB to match my Firefox screen atm (which has increased sizes too). But if I increase those xdpi values, they get bigger, but they get chunky/thick/semi-bold and still kinda hard on my eyes. They're sensitive to the tiniest thing these days. I downloaded on the fonts on OS4 and installed them properly with Typemanager.. they look good in the Sample windows. Even with bold turned on. FONTXDPI=98 FONTYDPI=98 .. This size looks good. But like I said,the thickness of the text.......... I'm willing to try anything. Hit with your suggestions guys.. this is my main browser on Amiga now, so it'll be cool to perfect it to my own needs.

@thread
Is there a way to use custom fonts in OWB? I'd like to choose a font thats maybe a little less chunky for my struggling eyes. Something big and skinny. (cue sex jokes).
I've finally removed IBrowse2.4 from my load all apps script (I click on the script's icon in the dock if I'm not having a major programming session and crashing over and over!).. and I've replaced it with OWB 3.15. It's amazing that I'm on Amiga, and using a browser thats displaying all my favourite sites either great, or in most cases, perfect! It's damn nice. Filer, OWB, Alt Tab Switcher.. its really enhanced my Amiga using experience.

Hey, MickJT is actually a Sam owner, a developer, and is also helping me at times too with SabreMSN.. so let's go easy on him. I don't believe he's trolling.
@Mick
I think what they meant was that the base of OWB is primarily a web page renderer. The navigation buttons, url location gadget, scrollbar for the page, browser tabs, etc, is platform specific code, and created from scratch for the OS4 port, to support the rendered display.

@samo79
Are the makers of OWB (not the porters) working on optimising the base code as they go along? It's interesting, as Joerg is updating to the latest svn on a regular basis, and it seems to be getting faster and faster.. maybe both Joerg AND the core OWB developers are doing a little optimising? I'm hoping its the core guys though, because that would bode very well for the future. I would think theres only so much optimising you can do for a port you see.
That post didnt mean to come out as a complaint.. I'm very happy with OS4 OWB. It's just getting better and better, and then a tiny bit worse, and then better again, as we go along. :)
Rendering is very impressive, youtube plugin will be here soon, but I reckon there's a lot room for improvement speedwise, considering its based on Webkit. Webkit == zoom! On my Sam, the speed is usable though, and for now thats good. :)

@LiveForIt
"all night" was probably not accurate.. maybe all day, and a late night occasionally..
I do physical volunteer work, and I get plenty of sleep. Don't worry. The other problems I'm working on.. I just have to slow down for a bit..

@walkero
Cool script. It's quite rewarding when the users come up with their own graphics packs, themes, scripts, etc.. customising things beyond the defaults I supplied.

@CountRaven
The "MOS" archive was just an OS3 executable with the OS4 archive's png images instead of the OS3 iff ilbm images..
I tried a quick recompile for MOS a while ago, but I got stuck on the SSL stuff.. and since the OS3 version does run, and because MOS has some great MSN clients already, it hasnt been a huge priority to get it running natively yet.. but when SabreMSN gets decent, I will probably look at porting it again. But right now, its not a big priority.
Anyway, there's a couple of kinda minor (but restricting) health related issues that's preventing me from having all night coding sessions like I used to.. so its getting harder for me to work through the to-do list in my head that seems to grow somehow every week.

I think its getting very close to v1.0. When that day comes, I will definitely make news items for all the Amiga sites.

SabreMSN v0.50 - 2009-06-12 - http://wookiechat.amigarevolution.com/ for OS3/OS4/AROS 2009-06-12 : Alpha 50 - Contacts graphics now have a transparent background. Thanks klesterjr! - All online contacts should show up as online now, thanks to fixing some errors in my string pointers - Protocol updated from MSNP8 to MSNP11 - Personal messages are retrieved and can be set by clicking on your name above the "Status" Cycle gadget - New ARexx command to set a personal message: "PERSONALMESSAGE message" - The renamed contacts file has been retired, as the server seems to now remember the display names properly in MSNP11 (or so it seems..) - Added BetterString.mcc to the "used classes" list, so it can be customised in MUI Settings. - Stability seems slightly better?

How long does it take to compile?
I get annoyed at my 1 minute 15 second WookieChat compiles.. it went a lot faster on the A1. :)

Very good. v5 lets me "run turbocalc budget.tcd" from my start all apps script. I've been manually loading my budget every time I've had to reboot for years.
Now I want to buy a copy of this somehow too! (Or other means if we cant find anyone willing to sell..).
