Re: emotion media player

@noXLar

Hi,

please can you explain when the resize of the window comes on your system?

I tried it and the behavior is here, that emotion don't scales the window down or up. The video is scaled.

Also loading a new video does not scale the window, only if you hit "w" or in menu "adjust window size", then the window scales to the video file size.

Only in "software" mode the window scales to the video size because there is no hardware scaling and it hase to use the video size. With compositing window sizing is enabled.

On which system did you tried the demo? In your signature, you have Radeon HD cards which should use compositing to scale the video.

@K-L
We have a big to-do list which is worked on, step by step.
But as we need other projects for living, the development speed is not fast on every day.

For the website: I have to put some news on it, i know ;) I will try to do my best to find time for it...

@Hans + Chris:

Last week we also did some changes, maybe some of the problems are gone.

Anyway: We also tried some videos with mplayer in comparison with Emotion after the post of Chris. None of our tests where much different. Maybe it is also the way HD videos are played in both players. On mplayer the videos are "slower" and the sound did not matched with the video. In Emotion it seems (depending on the frameskip mode) "jerky" but sound and video stays on the same position. So play a bit with the skip modes.

Beside this: Our computers are not fast enough to play all HD content, and a "slow frame rate" as Chris described not yet a good playing video. So we have to stay in our bounds and try to play videos that our computers can play (... at least as long Hans needs to implement a acceleration for video decoding in RadeonHD drivers ;) )

The problem is to get transparency in a YUV Video. So it is not impossible but some long days of work ;) So currently we have it not and focus the work on a first release and get feedback for the base version first.

@kas1e: Many thanks for vpdf, it works much faster here than AmiPDF (Sam460). Very cool ;)

@kas1e

I talked with Frank and he says it is curently not possible to get transparency. I will ask again why but maybe it will stay as it is (at least for a first release, we want to release as soon as possible).

Frank will come to me today and i will ask for some technical backgrounds.

@VooDoo

Did you tried to adjust the start script (resolution?) with open the file in your text editor?

If not, maybe Postal starts in your Workbench resolution which is to heavy for your Computer (and compositing... use software instead)

postal.exe 640x480 software

I asked Frank and he also think it is the low graphics memory (if all game files are there...). It might be that your MicroA1 is not built for these high end game ;)

Edit:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Frank also commented your OS4depot entry:

@VooDoo

the uA1 have only 32 mb vram, you could try to lower the resolution and/or try to switch to software renderer, an example how to do this is provided in the start script

Re: Bubble Shooter DX released [EntwicklerX]

I have uploaded a reworked Font File here:

http://amiboing.de/zeugs/stdFont.png

At least the gray shadows in the level screen should be invisible now.

Copy the png file to your BubbleShooter/font drawer and replace the old file.

Regards,
Thomas

(so it is not a problem of AmigaOS, i found out a while ago that i have to put an empty white hidden layer on bottom in the layer list to get alpha to white. If i forget it... like here, black is taken. It is not a problem on windows, but only visible on AmigaOS... i don't know why...)

@zzd10h

ok, seems we wrote at the same time ;)

Nice that it works now! Anyway, compositing or PNG loading has a problem with Alpha Channel, Antialiased edges are colored with "black" as clear color and there we get some gray borders on some graphics. With some tweaks while saving a PNG, it can be reduced... will check if the text in Bubbleshooter can be better...

Regards and thanks for playing the game ;)

But not the game is running in FullHD. Please can you start the config within the game Drawer and set your Fullscreen gaming mode?

Maybe since the new install the ScreenID is different and the game choose a fallback Mode for you?

Note: Also just tried to revert libpng stuff, also there the same glitches with 800x600 (so it should be not a Update 1 problem?).

Ok, maybe i found something. The overall compositing scaling is not the best in every case, maybe i am and the other users did not see the issues because we have a FullHD screen. I switched into 800x600 Screenmode like your sample images and have the same pixelated graphics.

Is your Monitor still 800x600 or can you try a higher resolution ;)

Thomas

Really strange, installed Warp Datatypes and works also. Also checked versions of libpng again, same as yours.

Which RadeonHD driver do you have (but should also be the same as before Update 1).

I tried here on my Sam460 with clean AmigaOS 4.1 F.E. + Update 1 install and it works as expected, with antialiasing. I also have no Sobject replaced, all versions from Update 1.

Any (Picture) Datatypes installed which can occour the problem?

Re: muimplayer new version progress

@LiveForIt

Sorry but Emotion nothing to do with mplayer! It is based on ffmpeg like other (also commercial software on other platforms) but hast nothing to do with a mplayer and is not a port of it or uses any source code! We want to do Amiga Software and not ports but we can not do it without using the reliable and maintained technologies from out of the Amiga world like ffmpeg. Emotion interprets our imagination of AmigaOS Software in look and feel and uses only the needed subset of technologies from outside of our universe ;)

As you should know, ffmpeg is only the base to decode video, a big tast comes after this (play the video, sync with keyframes, sound, subtitles). ffmpeg offers the pipeline to decode and is a great base for this but the player itself is an own big, big task and please join it not with mplayer and not trimmed down.

And a bit of work is around 6 month in in fulltime hours.

Also porting ffmpeg was a big work to get it work as it is now. Building a library is important for commercial use, splitting into separate ones is good for memory saving and also for use in other applications (open once instead of including own ffmpeg in other softwares (Odyssey).

And yes, there are some changes made. Files bigger than 2gb works, also some Altivec stuff is done. In our lbiraries Altivec is included and no separate library needed (if i remember my coder, it was also hard to do because bugs in ffmpeg).

"a commercial version of mplayer, just trimmed down", makes me cry.
If we had working Amiga like solutions (and not many half working stuff), then we would not have begun with this big task and would make other software!

Thomas
