IRC Re-union Night is over now, but #amigans is still open 24/7
Amigans Defender

Time for another get together, its been a long time since the last one.

Last time round there were over 40+ Amiga users past and present on #amigans IRC Channel. Including the legendary Joe Torre.

Hope to see you there around 7:00pm (GMT+1)

Server is irc.amigans.net or irc.amigaworld.net

Use the link on the Amigan.net website to go straight in, or use your favourite IRC program (Mine's wookiechat for AmigaOS)

World Record @ ANT?
Amigans Defender
Amigans Defender

Hi All

Here are some photos of the Recent Amiga North Thames Meeting which was attended by Amigakit. (Also our 16th Year Anniversary Meeting)

The meeting was attended by Amigakit, they brought along all manners of goodies, but predominantly they brought our slighlty discounted copies of Amiga OS4.1 Final Edition.

As you can see from the photos, the meeting was mostly spent installing the newest and latest edition of the OS all at the same time and at the same venue

Thanks must go to Amigakit for attending, we know it was a long way for them, as it was for some of our members too!

In addition, from one of the photos, ANT is not just an NG group. Can you spot the A600 yet?

Thanks to everyone who attended. We have never seen our venue so full, we barely managed to squeeze everyone in! The photos just doesn't show all who attended.

Best Amiga North Thames Meeting ever I think!!

Re: Amiga 30th Anniversary Event - UK

The Daddy, as I have stated, I do not want to use the time energy and resources of the Amiga North Thames guys for an Amiga only event. It has to tie up with either a Museum or a Retro/computer event. When we have done amiga only stuff, the attendance has been low and atmosphere not as good as it could be. So, we want the buzz

I sincerely hope we don't all do the anniversary on the same day. That would be silly. I am sure many an Amiga retailer/developer, would like to attend an event and try and make some money, plus what's the point in celebrating the Amiga Anniversary if no one will turn up at an event anyway?

Everyone, lets try and co-ordinate it, we obviously all can't do it on the same day, lets try and spread it out a bit.

Cheers

Amiga 30th Anniversary Event - UK
Amigans Defender
Amigans Defender

Hi everyone.

As we all know, the 30th Anniversary of the Amiga Computer is next year.

It is a very important Anniversary so myself and my fellow members of Amiga North Thames are looking to organise one final "final" show in the UK.

What we are looking for is a venue to host the event.

Ideally we want to tack on to another event that is already occurring or a UK retro/computer museum who would have the space to welcome the Amiga community for one/two days.

Suggestions please.

I seriously doubt Amigans.net will get brought out, we are too small on the radar.

Amigworld can sometimes be a bit noisy, like Amiga.org.

Something to be said for a small, but peaceful community site :)

Amiga IRC reunion night. What happened...
Amigans Defender
Amigans Defender

Many thanks to all those who participated in the reunion night event.

The #amigans channel was extremely busy, with over 50 users on the channel at one point.

It was nice to see so many former and current Amiga users on there, nice to catch up, amongst the highlights were discussions about favourtite Amiga models from the humble A500, A2000, A1200, A3000T etc, moving onto X5000 (Someone was showing off with theirs on there) as well as some people with X1000 and SAM's.

Plenty of talk about OS4.x vs Classic, Amiwest news/rumours, favourite Amiga games, "War never been so much fun!" and my personal Favourite Freespace

The new USB 3 device from individual computers was discussed at length.

Finally of notable people, Jahc (author of Wookiechat) made a brief comeback and some gentleman by the Name of Joe Torre dropped in and chatted about past amiga projects including the BoXer and other stuff, his days working on Amiga stuff for Gateway etc.

All in all, it was a huge success and we shall be repeating it again in 6 months time

once again my thanks to all those who took part, there are far too many to mention, but none the less cheers for turning up. It was nice to catch up with people we haven't seen sight of for many, many years

Looking forward to the next reunion!

Cheers

Re: SAM 440 EP weirdness (USB related)

I have tried a powered USB/SATA bridge thing, basically an internal hard drive, powered and plugged in via a USB cable, but still the same result. :\

EDIT - SOLVED - I found an old 20GB powered external hard drive. That works, it seems the SAM 440 EP USB ports are just very weedy

I think its a stupid power issue, if I plug the HD into the PC the LED in the case lights up, whereas in the SAM, it doesn't

Do I just give up? - Any ideas folks?

@Chris

I get a USB Mass Storages window

But nothing listed and everything ghosted out apart from Details.

If I click Details, I get a Mounter Window pop up, which is blank.
