Re: Qt Native News

Hey.. how goes the port? I'm checking out the QT docs and it looks real nice to program for. Is it possible to program using C or is it strictly C++? I'd love to use C++ again.

@alfkil

Man, I'd love a new user interface on Amiga! Would be great to program with something a little more feature complete. Good luck with the project.. I'll be watching you. :) (not literally..)

@ssolie

Yeah I gotta grab it again ASAP. I found a bunch of miscellanous bugs in Sabre and Wookie that I wouldnt have seen normally using my standard settings. I'll have to fix them up soon.

I sold my Flex 733 a few weeks ago to help pay for the X1000. In the meantime, I've borrowed the usergroup AmigaOne XE G3. Is very nice so far. :) Works a little faster than the Sam Flex, I love it. I'll have to start coding again soon. Almost finished my diploma so I'll be able to make time for it.

It's good to see it's still going, Chris. I know its hard to estimate software development times, but do you know how far away the javascript engine is from completion?

I cant wait for it to be completed. The timeline says its due July 2011. He really struggled with things at the very beginning, so it will be interesting to see if he can make that milestone by the time he planned.

@samwel

I almost released SabreMSN with a compressor that would reduce the filesize to 350k or so.. but I didnt for some reason. Dunno why (or why not). :)

well, the definiton of "entry level" has to increase every so often. It's good that our entry level will finally be 1GHz and PCI-e.

@Troels

Yeah, this sounds like the perfect successor to the AmigaOne at last. And for those who can afford it can have their power X1000's too. :) But this will be a great entry level machine, I love it.

my backplate arrived today, and has been installed.. JUST in time for me to move. Yay, no sticking fingers in inappropriate holes by accident!

Think of the dealer. It's easier for everyone to pay their one dollar for shipping, rather than a dealer pay for a hundred deliveries himself. I doubt theres much money in dealing Amiga stuff. If I had to ship out say, a hundred backplates for free then my would profit go out the window.

I dont know if Amigakit promised to ship the backplates for free, or if ACube promised that (to ship to their end customers, or their dealers).

@Hitman

With Timberwolf on the horizon, I'm not too concerned if OWB on OS4 doesnt manage to get the download manager and Flash features we all want.. not because I dont like OWB (I do, I use it every day), but because we'll have another option that will give us our needed features.

Ideally OWB would get these features, Timberwolf will be finished, and we'll have choices. Choice is very good.

@yescop

Please run sabremsn with the debug switch from shell and save the output for me. I'll have a look at it.

I think it's:
run sabremsn debug >ram:output.txt

Re: I want to use an HD Radeon in my Sam Flex

@Amigo1

my monitor is glitchy with the radeon dvi.. and I use 16bit modes to avoid running out of gfx memory with my many screens and tabs. I have compositing enabled for nice ringhio effects, and I optimise for memory usage instead of performance. Id love to have everything turned on to the max and running off DVI. would be heaven.

This is well within my price range:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Computers/Co ... ess/auction-267239573.htm

512mb ram.. that would be so sweet.

edit: Im currently using the radeon 9250 or similar 128mb but Id love to upgrade to a hd2400 for the extra ram, and better working DVI port for my higher resolutions.. no reduced blanking maybe? Im not sure how that works.. maybe Hans could clarify here..
imagine: 1920x1080x32bit, compositing, window drop shadows, optimised for performance instead of memory usage.. that would be nice.

So the drivers have full 2d acceleration now, and the UBOOT has been updated to allow using the cards... I'm wondering if I can use 1920x1080 DVI screens on HD radeons without problems? My eyes could do with a slightly better display.. my 24" has been running on VGA to avoid problems, and I'd like to use 32bit modes again if I had more than 128mb video ram.. Im not worried about 3d support for now.
