Any interest in a movie managemt program?

I'm curious if there is any interest in a blu ray management program. To let you easily make a list of your blu ray movies? It supports hand held scanner so need to write the names, just scan the ean code and the filename pops up.

Example from the program:

I too would find this useful, but at the moment, mainly for DVD's.

For the time being it only supports about 50blu rays as thats my collection. Main reason for creating this is for my own use,but if there is interest i might add xtra features etc so others can use it too. Not sure what i want to integrate,if other things than blu ray. But a long way to go before its in a releaseble state.

I'm very interested but I don't have any blu ray films only DVD. I use a shareware program on the mac called dvdpedia, but would like something that would import it's database (around a 1000 dvds with more info on each dvd than anyone would ever want) to avoid having to re-enter my collection.

let me know if you want me to test beta versions...

I have about six bluray movies and a lot of dvds. So if this could be modified to use both, it would be a very nice program!

there is a web site where you can obtain everything about movies, pictures etc. But have no idea how to obtain the data. So im thinking of making my own database. But then i need help. Most prefered someone with a hand held scanner and maybe a flat scanner. But not necessary. I would like the person to scan the ean code, add the full name and add scans from the cover. The cover is not necessary if i can find it on the web. So its very time consuming but, what to do with all the spare time?

have a look here: http://aws.amazon.com/associates/ all the info you need should be there, the only thing that I can see you need to do is add a 'buy' button to your program to meet amazons legal requirements (and if anyone does buy anything you get commission).

The second item in the service highlights is the one you want: "Access product data from Amazon.com, Amazon.fr, Amazon.ca, Amazon.de, Amazon.jp, and Amazon.co.uk"

" I have a large collection of Laserdiscs, guess I'm stuck in the 80s "

The forerunner of the CD/DVD format. I can't believe Pioneer did not get any credit for that.

Back to movies. No Blue Ray here but lots of DVD's.
Can I just scan the bar code with a standard reader. I think I can borrow one from work.

A standard scanner will work yes. But not with dvd's and only a handfull of blu rays are supported. My database is still my own collection which consists of mighty 51 movies atm.

Should not the original cover have a set bar code for each version?

A place to share scans with details may be awesome.

Every movie has its own ean code yes. But it seems that the same movie can have a different ean code depending on where its from. Saw that as i got the new indiana jones movie from the usa,and had one from, norway. The code did not match, but the movie was the same, even 2 disc specail both of them.

I was hoping for some maniac collerctors around here to help me,but doesnt seem anyone has a huge collection sadly.

The big buttons look a bit odd to me. You may wish to have icons instead of text buttons. It would be a good idea to put some free-space around the buttons, turn it into a small panel so-to-speak.

Perhaps you could go for a more vertical layout. The box image is a little disconnected from the description below. Putting the box image to the left or right of the description would probably work better. Actually, maybe the title browser should go below the image and description.

Some of this is personal taste, but I think that putting the box/title image and the movie description together as a uniform panel would make more sense, thus making it more intuitive.

I hope that you can picture what I'm saying.

Hans

EDIT: BTW, I'm not suggesting that your current layout is bad. However, I do think that it can be improved upon.
