Problem with file with huge file name

I downloaded a file name :

Transactions_of_the_Royal_Martian_Geographical_Society_The_Journal_Of_Victorian_Era_Roleplaying_Volume_One.

Workbench does not show the file, I can see the file in the shell, but cannot rename it.
Is there anyway to address this natively?

You can also rename the file with filer, one of the few programs that can rename really long filenames that even c:rename can't handle.

Ps. I hate the new amigans website. <shudder>

And DOpus4.

BTW, are you sure you didn't just have to set WB to show all files (not only those with icons)? I can see/make/rename a file with that name in WB here.

Best regards,

Niels

Rename seem to work fine here:

10.AmigaOS4:> cd ram:
10.RAM Disk:> echo foo foo
10.RAM Disk
:> rename foo Transactions_of_the_Royal_Martian_Geographical_Society_The_Journal_Of_Victorian_Era_Roleplaying_Volume_One
10.RAM Disk
:> list
Transactions_of_the_Royal_Martian_Geographical_Society_The_Journal_Of_Victorian_Era_Roleplaying_Volume_One          4 ----rwed Today     12:08:15
3 files
4 bytes 2 directories 10 blocks used
10.RAM Disk
:> rename Transactions_of_the_Royal_Martian_Geographical_Society_The_Journal_Of_Victorian_Era_Roleplaying_Volume_One foo
10.RAM Disk
:> list
foo                               4 ----rwed Today     12:08:15
3 files
4 bytes 2 directories 10 blocks used

version rename full
Rename 53.4 (06/12/2015)

What filesystem did you download the file onto?

It was to an external HD, NTFS, I think.

@Nuder_Try

NTFS3G should not have any troubles handling filenames up to 255 character, however the AmigaOS 4.1 FE workbench.library is very old and still uses the obsolete FileInfoBlock based DOS examine calls that only allow for filenames up to 107 characters.

Ok, so for native stuff it's more "when" instead of "what".
