I changed the language in locale/prefs to english (iso-1), then restarted AmiUpdate. This time the GUI was right and the updated catalog files did download and update as supposed to.
After that I changed Locale prefs to the language of choice and everything worked again even after a reboot.

That will work, however I believe the canonical thing is to have the prefs_updates.catalog inside the main LOCALE:, and amiupdate.catalog inside the program's own catalogs drawer.

If I set AmigaOS in english it works without problems but if I run AmiUpdate with Italian language I have a strange message, in italian is: "individuazione dello script di installazione.." in english is something like: "looking for installation script...."

What can I do?

That`s how it works for me too.

Another thing I`ve noticed is a 100% CPU usage (CPUTemp.docky), after the update (I`ve tested the unpacked files and new versions are installed over the old ones, so the whole unpack/install process is ended).

I and another user on one italian forum have had the same 100% CPU usage problem of Cass after the NetSurf update

I get that 100% CPU usage since ages, coming from AmiUpdate

Easy check is to get an update offered and just let it sit there, CPU jumps from normal usage to 100% all the time until i install the update

People are dying.
Entire ecosystems are collapsing.
