If Mick confirm that problem is fixed in .42 , may i upload it on os4depot as well ?

Yes. I was hoping to have a relatively bug-free version at OS4Depot when I released the previous version but it didn't work out that way. An old bug turned up that has been there for several years

Go ahead and upload the new version.

Maybe i found a bug or it is a wrong setting from me.

I have DOpus 4.18.29 installed and using it for copying my betafiles to Sys.

I give you an example:
In my Sys is Kickstart:bootsound.kmod Version xxxx

Now i get the newest version and want to copy it like this:
Left window in DOPUS
SYS:
Right window in DOPUS
Ram:bootsound.lha

I click now on bootsound.lha and Kickstart drawer appears.
I copy now from right window Kickstart drawer to Sys:
This will overwrite SYS:Kickstart:bootsound.kmod

This works well with DOPUS 4.18.29

The same procedure doesn`t work with latetest 4.18.42 and prevoius version of DOPUS.
I get a message : AmigaDos error 212-object is not the required type

I just D/L DOpus4 from OS4Depot and tested copying from an archive and it works. You can't mix components of DirectoryOpus 4.18.29 with DirectoryOpus 4.18.42 (dopus.library, the config module or the program). If you have run 4.18.29 then you must reboot before running 4.18.42 because the old library will remain in memory after running the 4.18.29.

Here is how I tested:
Downloaded Dopu4.lha from OS4Depot.
Extracted the archive to a disk partition.
Rebooted.
Opened the newly installed Dopus4 (v4.18.42).
Opened ram: in the left lister.
Opened a directory containing an lha archive in the right lister.
Double-clicked on an lha archive in the right lister to display the contents.
Clicked on a file displayed in the right lister to highlight it.
Clicked the "Copy" button in the button bank.
The file was copied to ram:

I suggest you reboot and run Dopus4 as installed from the D/L archive and test copying from an archive again.

I think you don`t understand me 100%.
I started after cold reboot DOPUS 4.18.42 and have nevertheless the copy error.
Send me your e-mail address via PN and i will create some nice screenshots and a detailed bugreport.

I can't fix a problem I can't reproduce. Did you test with a fresh install with no files added or changed as I requested?

@all
Can anyone else confirm a problem copying a file from an lha archvie in a lister to ram: or another drive partition?

Are you do full-clean-new-fresh install of 4.18.22 to a different place, so no older configs or anything from previous version of dopus in use ?

Once again
If i copy a drawer from an lha archive like bootsound.lha to my Sys with the same drawer, i get an 212 error.

bootsound.lha after click appears Kickstart drawer.
This Kickstart drawer want i to copy to Sys, where also a Kickstart drawer
located.

This way to copy files works well in DOpus 4.18.29 from Final CD

I will confirm this bug. Here is an exact step by step guide to reproduce (not all steps are needed, but this will reproduce it for anyone).

0. Install DirectoryOpus 4.18.42.
Download amivnc4.lha (random archive) and store it in DH1:
1. Delete or rename DirectoryOpus.CFG
2. Reboot computer.
3. Start DirectoryOpus 4.18.42.
4. Extract amivnc4.lha to SYS:
5. Open SYS: in the right lister.
6. Open DH1: in the left-lister.
7. Double-click amivnc4.lha in left-lister.
8. Highlight AmiVNC4 in left-lister.
9. Click Copy.
10. DOS error code 212 - object is not of required type.

This bug only happens if the archive has already been previously extracted, and you're copying a directory that already exists in the target location. Overwriting files is OK, but not merging directories.

Summary: Directory "X" already exists in target location. Archive also has directory "X" which you've highlighted, and clicked "Copy" to merge the archive's directory X with your existing directory X.

Bug is also in .41, so it wasn't introduced in the last update.

O.K. I can reproduce it now. I was copying a file; not a directory. Copying a directory from an archive fails if the same-named directory already exists in the destination lister. Thanks for the help.

Apologies to you. Even though your description clearly stated you were copying a "drawer" (directory), I was thinking "file" and testing by copying a file. Sometimes fixing a bug can cause another bug which is probably the case with this one. It may take a while to figure out where the bug was introduced and which changes caused it.

Copying a directory from an archive to a lister containing a directory with the same name should now be fixed in DirectoryOpus-4.18.43-OS4.lha at:
