I have installed Amiga4.1 OS FE but all I get is FLB: No SLB found in any designated boot sources; returning to u-boot. Press any key. But I press any key and nothing happens. So I think I have really messed up. But my knowledge of the Amiga is not very good as you can see so what I`m asking is there anybody out there can help me

What else have you done, when you upgraded?
Have you replaced the hard drive?
Or changed the SATA connector on the motherboard?
Or swapped the cable on the HD/CDROM?

The SLB should not just disappear.

If you have new HD, you need to install the SLB into the RDB of the HD.

That sounds like your HDD sits on a device not known (and as such not found) by UBoot.

What HDD do you use and to which device/controller is it connected?

Well if you are telling UBOOT to look for SLB on your CDROM, and you do not have a CD in the drive it will not find any.

UBOOT is the thing that tells you do not have SLB2.

Type "menu" in the uboot shell.

try to navigate your self to this menu, using the cursor keys.

Resized Image

when you have found it, select Amiga multiboot option, and set the boot order in UBOOT.

when exiting uboot menu it will ask you if wont to save or not, if you don't save it your change is temporary and lost on reboot.

Now you simply type:

boota

and press enter, to execute the boota command.

if you have not messed with the cables and boot order is correct you should have no problem booting from CD, if you have not blanked out your RDB and you should also be able boot from HD.

Now get back into Media toolbox and fix your SLB2 problem.

Type "menu" in the uboot shell.

In case you don't have the same UBOOT as me, you can always post some pictures of what you see.

in uboot you also have the "help" command, you can type, to see all commands uboot has.

Good day atom,

It may depend on what ng Amiga system you have. I have a sam460ex lite.
To enter the uboot menu, after you power on your Amiga, and uboot has initialized sata and USB, hit the space bar. That will take you to the menu.

Sold the SAM460ex lite... waiting for money for X5000 or A1222 and OS 4.2

Way are you pressing "I"?
Anyway, you should be able to type some text in the shell, try a different USB port.
"ESC" button is used to interrupt uboot, boot process.

I don't think he's pressing the "I" button, i think there's one "I" too much in his sentence.

It probably means "which what ever i press".

...

btw, isn't it possible to load AmigaOS4.1 from the CD, open UBoot prefs, make the changes and save them?
They are saved to UBoot, not to anything on HDD, right?

That might be another possible way for @atom to change his settings

@atom

I'm not familiar with the SAMs, but if nothing happens when you press a key, you might want to try to plug in your keyboard (i guess it's USB?) into the very first USB port (There is a problem on the X1000 not picking up USB keyboards in CFE when not in USB slot 1.

Or you could try to plug in another keyboard and try again.

All in all it seems that your UBoot miss the settings for your installed HDD, that's why it's not picked up leaving you with the SLB not found error.

Once you got your keyboard working and you reached UBoot we can help.

Yes that's what I'm trying to learn him, he just need to get keyboard working.

Unless he reinitialized the RDB, (wiped the RDB clean from any SLB), and re-partitioned.

As he has not changed anything, does know how to change anything it NOT likely that UBoot is some how changed, (unless he has kids in the house that did it).

Before we ask him to change anything drastic, I like to try get him to simply just change the boot device in Amiga multi boot menu, and boot from the CD.

It might be its named "boot sequence" in menu or something else in Sam, as there is different version of UBOOT.

but first he needs to get the keyboard working.

Do you use a wireless keyboard, if so I suggest changing to different keyboard that does not have that, and if you're using KWM or something like that, try to connect keyboard directly to Sam.

Have you put the kbd in the right usb connector? If i'm not wrong it will only work before OS4 is loaded in a specific port. Read your manual. Should be explained there.

I'm guessing you have not set your boot partition as bootable and not installed the slb onto the hd.
This has to be done in mediatoolbox(the same place as you partition your hd). Placed in the system drawer on your boot partition.
Hope this helps.

You beat me to it. Keyboard in wrong usb slot is most likely reason, for not working.
