I had the same problem before, sometimes my X1000 refused to boot, so I unplugged the PSU from the motherboard, plugged it again, and everything is fine since then.

I can't see anything, the picture is far too small.
If chips are burnt that look like in this photo
Take a look at the top right. Left of the white square cpu power plug are 12 black square chips with two legs.
If those are fried then the voltage coming to the board was too high.
I saw that on an XE once, someone was playing with the cpu voltage and blew the board
People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction. And all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth. How dare you! – Greta Thunberg
There is never lightning strikes during the winter period in Norway, impossible to say what caused this. This is a beta tester motherboard, there where some revisions before the final nemo motherboard.

Looks like a power supply bypass cap failed, sometimes they just open up, other times they short out when they go. I wouldn't blame it on the PSU, just appeares to be a failed cap, makes a mess, but easy to fix & shouldn't have caused any other dammage if it is.
Polarized caps like those will blow on powerup if their weak, they fail more then any other component because they take a current surge, Always a good idea to power up a system once a month to prevent bypass caps from discharging.
Reminds me to turn on my oscilloscope again, its blown 2 bypass caps letting it sit in storage too long.

They protect against power spikes caused by a huge range of things, not just lightning. In fact I suspect a lightning strike would destroy the protector and anything plugged into it. They are most useful for smoothing out the power when high drain devices like heaters and showers are turned on or off. I use them religiously with any sensitive or valued appliances.
