PM notification button is difficult to notice. Just me?

A few times this week, I have missed PMs as I find the little envelope icon too small to notice. Does anyone else find this?

No, you are quite right, it's so easy to miss

Please orgin, could you add a window popping up once one has signed in, if there's a PM waiting?

Thank you

That's what it is now, you see a little envelope beside your "User Menu"

But you don't get alerted in any other way.
It would be nice to have a window popping up, like it's done in the Hyperion forums, that way you can't miss a PM

Or, even better, let the website send an eMail (also like on the Hyperion forums)

Have you heard of pop up blocker, I think most modern web browser has this built in, so that you don't get spammed with 100 windows, if press the wrong link on the internet.

I do, and i'm using at least two (built-in Odyssey and an altered HOSTS file)

Still i get the notification on the Hyperion forums fine.

I'll vote for an eMail notification on PM's on amigans.net.

@orgin

Would that be feasable?

A quick check and google search revealed no XOOPS option to send emails when receiving PM's.

Perhaps walkero would have better luck finding one.

@all

I've asked this before to no avail, but here it goes again.
If anyone wants to supply a transparent GIF anim with the same width/height as the current "new message" image that shows up in the top menu then just let me know. It should be annoying enough to satisfy peoples need to be notified of new PM's in a proper manner.

In the first version of the Amigans website I made the "Inbox (1)" background in the sidebar bright red when there was a message waiting. I found that sufficiently noticeable. As the Inbox link is now hidden away in a menu that's not an option, but maybe the "User Menu" text background could be changed to red when there's a message? Or change the envelope icon to an animated GIF that flashes on and off?
