Thanks kas1e for working on Odyssey for OS4 again, and to deadwood for the hard work of upgrading Odyssey with the latest webkit! Just hope some day not too far away we also manage to get it to work on OS4.

I just bought a (slightly mouldy) house and have a kid on the way, so my programming time is basically zero nowadays :(

I thought I had no time when I had one on the way.
He is now 15 months old.
Basically one on the way is nothing, your going to be in for a big shock when the baby arrives.

Not trying to worry you both or anything but MY GOD, they take over.

Hi there,

I have been testing patch 7 on Odyssey 1.23 using AmigaOS 4.1 FE on my X1000. Thanks for these fixes btw, very helpful indeed!

As you probably know I blog quite a lot so not being able to login and use blogger on the x1000 under Odyssey is quite frustrating.

With Patch 7 I can now login to blogger which is great.

However, when editing a post I am unable to upload any photos or select from existing photos on the blog.

The upload photos functionality appears, but the Upload file button is not able to be clicked on.

If I choose to select a photo from the existing blog, it locks up Odyssey for a while, and then it returns, with no images to choose from.

Any ideas?

Catcha,
Epsilon

Have you tried turning Javascript off for this site?

The cpu going to 100% (normally) means JS is performing it's magic.

Then again, i had the same behaviour on the github online editor quite a lot and it's gone now with v7...

Well, now that I have the OWB media player error on Facebook I can't recover from the DSI.

*EDIT*

After further testing it seems it is the same situation as before: sometimes the DSI can be skipped and browsing can be resumed, and I still get the same brower freeze when memory becomes scarce because of js heavy sites.

Nothing has been done regarding Mediaplayer in Odyssey, it will crash as before since Ka1e never said that it was corrected.

Whis system are you using ? With wich version ?

What has been corrected is the memory leak so memory won't be eaten as fast as before BUT if you come out of memory, you'll for sure have a crash, as before.

Thank you for clarifying the matter. When the media player thing popped up I usually could dsi my way around it maybe like 10 times before I couldn't. Now maybe a single time if I'm lucky. The overall feel even in js heavy sites is that it is more stable - until it isn't, and I mean I have fewer chances at recoverability (trying to free memory, getting over dsi, etc).

Turning off javascript made no difference.

As a point of interest I can eventually get existing images from the blog to choose from to insert with Blogger under Odyssey Patch 7 if I wait long enough (takes a long while to appear and cpu hits 100% for a while). I can then put them into the blog ok.

However the upload image button in Blogger post editing does not work at all no matter how many times I clicked it. So I can't upload any images to blog posts edited in blogger under Odyssey 1.23 (Patch 7).

Hopefully there is a fix for it?

On postimage.org I am able to upload, while on Facebook it changes from time to time. Perhaps it is also related to changes in code on those complete platform sites?

In my new blog i have fixed all these things ;)

I just want to say thanks for those working on Odyssey, yes it's faster for some reason and that sites like youtube are working (login) is great :) .

Odyssey is no-longer able to reliably open BBC news articles, such as these:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/35560484
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35566480
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-35571793

After some time it usually opens an error window saying "Error 52: Server returned nothing (no headers, no data)." Occasionally it will seem to download a MB or so, and then fail. VERY occasionally it will actually successfully open the page, but so infrequently as to be useless.

This happens with with the last official release, and the last test version ("v7").

Note: NetSurf v3.3 has no problem opening the exact same pages!

Just had to try them as I use Odyssey everyday to read the BBC news website and had no problems this morning so using the latest version here and all three of them pages opens ok, tried it a few times and worked everytime.
