Good case fan for Amigas (which don't have temp controlled fan speeds)
Home away from home

See User information
About 4 years after I bought two tower cases, one for my new PC & one for my new Amiga, one of the case fans in the Amiga started to fail & became very noisy. But an identical fan in the PC is still going fine.

I attribute this to the fact that the PC automatically adjusts the fan's speed (running it slowly unless the case gets too hot), while my Amiga just ran the fan at full speed all the time, thus causing the fan in the Amiga to wear-out much quicker.

When looking for a replacement, I found a fan which is able to automatically adjust it's speed withOUT requiring any motherboard support:

This seems to make it an ideal fan to use in Amiga cases.

What Amiga do you use this with?
What case do you have?
Where do you place the temp cable?

Did you check the case temps before and after?
Can you share the difference?

Cool fan though, didn't know they are available with their own temp cable/control

edit: Unfortunately 120mm is max with TC, i'd need 140mm to fit in my Fractal case (Using a Fractal RC2 140mm in there now)

I didn't think the Amiga I used it for was relevant, since I'm using a custom case (rather than the one it's usually supplied with).

The case is long discontinued, so again I don't really see the point of mentioning it. But it's made by Cooler Master.

I wrapped most of the temp cable around the fan itself (as it's not especially short), and then used a cable tie to hold the sensor (at end of cable) somewhere in the case. I didn't think the placement mattered too much, since air circulation will tend to mix internal air enough.

I didn't have a problem with internal case temperatures in the first place (as far as I know), so I didn't bother with before/after temp measurements. I may not even need that case fan, but having one seems better than not.

edit: Maybe something like the following 140mm to 120mm adaptor would work for you:

Ah right, i forgot about the adapters, thanks for reminding me

Of course it doesn't really matter, just wanted to imagine what setup you use it in.
CoolerMaster has a name to it's products, nice

Using the white X1000 case with side window and fan control (5v, 7v, 12v through a switch on the front) and am quite happy with noise and cooling.
(5v is actually not enough because the fan sometimes don't even start because of the low voltage)

I do have a second fan in the front door which isn't connected as the airflow is this case is amazing...

When it come to fans itself, there's nothing that can touch the award-winning NOCTUA FANS.

Most if not all come with many adaptor including one which slows the fan speed.

Look for the model which have four little pads in each corner of the fan(s).

Extreme Performance, Ultra Quiet with adapters.

Get the correct fan size to fit case. This is what most Extreme Overclockers use on their PC.

All my equipment here is fitted or changed with NOCTUA Fans, 40mm & up.

My case here has two 92mm Fans,Extreme Performance,Ultra Quiet.

What use is having a slow fan in the summer? One which automatically goes faster in warmer weather seems a better idea...

Read the technology into NOCTUA FANS, don't let slow fan rotation put you off.

download PDF docs & see for yourself.

Not gonna bother, without some hints as to why I should. I somehow doubt they've magically made their fans perform better (at a given speed) than anyone else.

There' a few videos on youtube if that helps. You can run them at full speed without using the included adaptor & noise level is still low.

The Fans are special and its visible too, on each blade.

one other thing that maybe good to add is a case Fan Filter in order to keep the dust out. ..helps protect your computer.
