@ JosDuchIt

You can use the programs "UFRaw" (AmiCygnix application) or the tools "dcraw" (shell tool). Both are available on OS4 depot.

Your camera or the format on the memory card must be recognized by the system (normally as a mass storage device).

Amiga OS4.1 support PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol). Since Update2 it works fine with my Canon Powershot A570IS. You got an preview Window if you plug in your Digital Camera and can choose the Fotos/Videos to download.

PTP works just dandy with my Nikon Coolpix camera.

Plug it in, then turn the camera, Ta-Daaa!

I think others may be overlooking the term "GSM". Unlike photography cameras they are typically very customized for particular security systems. You probably need to read the specs very closely to determine how they can be controlled and how the image data can be transferred or copied.

You generally have three ways of transfering data from a camera to your Amiga

1) via PTP which works only for a very few cameras
2) via USB Cable, if camera can be set to a "masstorage mode"
3) plug cameras memory card into a USB cardreader, this works most of time (!)

So, I guess no. 3) is the way to go, however if you are talking about moving pictures/videos it might even get harder. However maybe AmiwebView alinea amiwebview might help you.

Once the images are on your SAM, use iBatch in order to organize your images.

With regular digital cameras, I tried a bunch and had
very good luck with OS4's PTP driver. It has worked with
at least a Sony, two Kodaks, an HP, a couple Canons, a
Nikon. Maybe I'm forgetting some?

GSM? Do you mean a phone's camera?

In that case, I haven't seen a phone that does the USB
PTP mode. Many phones will emulate a mass storage device,
but there can still be a lot of compatibility issues.

On my Android phone, I've used a variety of FTP Server
apps and just connected to the phone (via Wifi) and
transfered pictures, music, etc. to/from with AmiFTP.

Of course, pulling the memory card and using a USB card
reader is always an option.

Good luck,

PJS

Also works with Fuji finepix cameras using lead or card viewer.
Pictures and video transferred from Nokia phone but only the pictures worked. There may be a viewer, or a datatype available for video, but I didn't bother looking as I only used the phone for video at work, and the Sam is my "relax and have fun" machine.

I have a Nokia 5800 and I can easily download photos to my Sam440 through the USB data cable supplied with the phone. The phone can work as PTP as well as mass-storage (selectable). As long as the phone supports either PTP protocol or mass-storage, it will work without problems. Using mass-storage is best, since I can easily access any file on the phone, this way I can upload music and videos as well as applications to the phone.

Yep, Nikon SLRs work with OS4.1 update 2. However, a GSM camera might be a different story. How do you connect to it with a PC to see the pictures?

make sure it has some sort of standard memory card... this puts you on the safe side. Otherwise check all OS4 forums wether somebody has it already...

My HTC Touch Diamon 2 works as mass storage...

Yep, if you're thinking of phones, many of them work as mass storage, and many use a standard memory card which can be read on the Amiga. Pretty much all Nokias do...
