@Troels

Take the money in an envelope and go to belgium and deliver them yourself.

Did read in the newspaper this week that someone found an envelope with 24000euro. Was that your bounty money?

@Troels

Today I think about it again. I don't want to give money to Paypal and thus don't want to give money for a bounty.
If I count the difference between the money transfered and what remains (only from the donations of this page), we lost next to 300 euros. It would have been a nice bounty amount

Ok so what do we do?
Should I create an account in a french bank and give the connection details to you? This way we are two people to have access to the account.

Also I can produce a PDF of the account and make it public so that everyone can see the money is still there.
And the interests would even pay the hosting fees!

Of course, Paypal can still be used and the money transfered to the bank account to generate interests.

It is possible, to create a deposit account, its a shard account that requires the owners of account to both be present when money is to be taken out of the account, the only problem it does work so well for bounty team that is spread out on different counties.

anyway paypal is a easy to use system, using bank transferees are more hazel, and people trust paypal.

It doesn't rule out Paypal at all. Only the money is not kept at Paypal but on the bank account instead.

Ok, here is a list of saving accounts. I looked for accounts that could be operated in english so that several people can have access to it. This is to avoid any risk people may fear.

The idea of deposit the money in an account and it give interests is old even I though on it but here as with Pyapal account is the "confidence" that money arrives to programmer.
Now the only benefit for us with Paypal is that they don't fees for the transfer although they get their percentage of money donate, perhaps the bounty solution will be make an ONG or fundation as Nobel academy, to get two things tax relief for donors and that money doesn't miss..... in spain for example there are foundations with this vicious lost the donations...

You can still pay using Paypal but then the money is transfered on the account that generates interest.

Your idea of a foundation is a nice one but it needs some work on the legal side. I wonder if someone would have time/knowledge for that.

I know of no waay to send money from the U.S. where I live to an EU bank account. Henceforth, I will add the amount of Paypal's service fee to my bounty contribution.

@joerg & @elwood:

I think you guys are ignoring that bank-to-bank transfers
are rarely done by consumers in the US.

Most banks charge a hefty fee for such things ($20 or more
for international) and you have to go into the bank to do them.
Do the math - you're talking about a 20+% expense on a
$100 transfer.

Compared to that, PayPal is a relative bargain and dramatically
more convenient.

Maybe Moneybookers/Skrill is a cheaper alternative, but
their site is quite uninformative and contradictory on
what services they even offer in the US. One place they
say no credit cards in the US, other places yes. ????

Not confidence inspiring.

Maybe there's someone more serious about this?

Or maybe we just need to get over that transatlantic transfers
between different financial worlds are a pain in the neck
and costly?

It seems a lot of people missed this part below so using bold text seems required
Note that I do NOT want to replace Paypal completely as US people need it to avoid bank fees. In this case, the money would then be moved away from Paypal and be transfered on the account that generates interest.
