Straight out of the box, I doubt it, but .xs is just zipped xml, so unpack and peruse in a text viewer.

I downloaded unzip from OS4depot and triedt to unzp it directly

12.Work40:_12_Abortion/bevolking> unzip pop2010-2016mov_nl_tcm325-234223.xls ram:out
Archive: pop2010-2016mov_nl_tcm325-234223.xls
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in pop2010-2016mov_nl_tcm325-234223.xls,
and cannot find pop2010-2016mov_nl_tcm325-234223.xls.zip, period.

I donladed the file as http://statbel.fgov.be/nl/binaries/po ... 6mov_nl_tcm325-234223.xls

Maybe this is the problem with OS4.1 FE update 1. Please dont't use the display driver "picasso96clonewbdb", use "picasso96clonewb" instead. It should work, but is a bit slower.

Gnumeric on AmiCygnix loads and saves .xls and also the newer .xlsx files.

I downloaded gnumeric and launched it. It reads the file mentioned above, but i experience the same problem as with converters i used (converson to html)

Way down the excel page you have (withexcel) the possibility (links?) to load/see similar pages for different years.
On one converted html file the links appeared on top of the page but did not work, with an other one the links simply did not appear.
That is also the gnumeric behavior

I tried this with Gnumeric:

- Created a file with a link in it using menu item "Insert/Hyperlink...".
- Saved it in .xls and .xlsx format
- Loaded these files again in Gnumeric

The links were still there.

I'm afraid this will not help you, but it would be interesting what you get, if you load such an .xls or .xlsx file into Excel (Don't have it here)

I just downloaded the file you linked to on a Win 7 system with MS Office.

AFAICS, the "links" you refer to are not links, but tabs. They display different pages (worksheets?) inside the same .xls file (workbook?).

I don't remember whether this is a specific MS concept, or other spreadsheet programs also support them, and specifically I don't remember if TurboCalc does.

Best regards,

Niels

Tabs are also supported under Gnumeric. I've loaded the test file (pop2010-2016mov_nl_tcm325-234223.xls) and the tabs are there.

I did notice however the rrows left and right which give acces tot years 2010 etc.
