I got this once yesterday as well, and have seen it once or twice before long ago.

I think it usuallly happens when network problems have caused the transferred XML file to be incomplete. You may want to try again at another time, hoping for better accessability.

He can solve easily using the catalog descriptors (.cd files) from:

Ok...it didn't happen today

and it's v2.41 actuallly

but i got another strange problem now.

danish and german catalog files for AmiUpdate are being offered, but i cannot check or uncheck any of the two files.
Only "Select None/Select All" from the bottom buttons work.

Plus it is not possible to double click those files to get information because i cannot mark any

Thats a regression i'd say

Anyone else?

If you have bug reports to do, you can use the bug tracker: http://amiupdate.codebench.co.uk/bugtracker/bughome.php

Right, there are unresolved bug items from 2010 there, not very promising...

I have two items in the tracker myself (for years), which i never got feedback on, so...no thanks

Same here.

After hitting update button, a brief message will appear:
Quote:

Synchronising with server: %s...

Failed to resolve server address

The only failure message in au.log is "Failed to get filesize from header, Content-Length: tag missing".

Sounds to me like another variant of temporary network and/or server problems.

Best regards,

Niels

I've got the same problem too. The work-around I've found is to scan twice, then I can click and select the files again.

Another funny thing appeared on my system:
Calling AmiUpdate by double clicking on it's icon in System/AmiUpdate works nicely. All strings are translated into dutch.
But when I call AmiUpdate through ContextMenu (right mousebutton on WB-screen) then only half of the strings is translated. It seems that prefs.updates.catalog is not loaded.

Maybe I should be a little more specific: AmiUpdate 2.41 works nicely, with the updated catalogs. Even when called from/through ContextMenus it works okay, but not with a complete translation. This all was the same with the old version 2.39.

Brainwave hit me! Moved the catalogs from sys:system/amiupdate/catalogs to sys:locale/catalogs and now both catalogs are being used properly.
