Sound play without window?
Quite a regular

I have an SVX8 sound file which I want to be able to play at boot time. Currently I just put it in WBStartup. It's rather inelegant because it leaves a small Multiview window open when the sound file is finished.

Is there a way I can keep the window from opening at all, and still have the sound play?

I was looking for tooltypes to use that might accomplish this, but the documentation in my old 3.1 book isn't any help.

Grab the excellent Play16 from aminet

http://www.aminet.net/mus/play/Play16.lha

add to you startup-sequence after loadwb

C:Run >nil: C:Play16 >nil: sys:Prefs/Presets/Sounds/YourSample.8SVX

The above assumes you have play16 in c: and startup sounds in sys:prefs/presets/sounds/

Here's an idea:

Thilo K?hler's -- tkplayer -- V1.5
AHI player supporting MP3, AIFF, WAV, MAUD, 8SVX, CDDA & RAW !

Example:
TKPlayer Work:mp3/mysong.mp3 nogui speed 110 offset 20000

This will play the file "Work:mp3/mysong.mp3" without opening a window at
110% of the original speed, starting at 20 seconds.

There's even more with less -- tkplayer Light ! It has no gui. IMHO,This a much better player than Play16.
I think Severin recommended this at one time.
