Software News

NetSurf is a small, fast web browser for AmigaOS 4 and other platforms.

NetSurf 3.1 contains many improvements over the previous release. The highlights include much faster CSS selection performance, faster start up time, new look and feel to the treeviews (hotlist/bookmarks, global history and cookie manager), improved options handling, undo/redo support in textareas, and general improvement of forms. Also included are many other additions, optimisations and bug fixes. We recommend that all users upgrade.

A NetSurf 3.1 build for AmigaOS 4 (native frontend) can be downloaded from http://www.netsurf-browser.org/downloads/amiga/

 debug output ?
@Chris Tried new version (updaetd via amiupdate). Once i go to amigans.net, it throw me some debug "output window" , in which some heavy css/html content thrown in loop, so only solution was to reboot.

 Re: debug output ?
Do you have a copy of that debug output?
I actually posted the news article using v3.1 so it definitely works on amigans.net.

Output is never ends (happen in loop), but begining of it looks like this:

http://kas1e.mikendezign.com/temp/netsurf31_amigans.jpg

you can see there that i have www.amigans.net typed in url, it then do some fetchining, and then spawn me that wnidow.

 Re: output
Odd. Can you try a fresh install in a new location?

 Re: NetSurf 3.1 released
Great job Chris!

NetSurf displays http://yahoo.com much better than Odyssey (though navigating the site doesn't work so well).

 kas1e issue
I had the very same issue and also amiupdate still wanted to update netsurf after a reboot. So I updated again (stupid user haha) and went straight to this site and the same thing happened so something's wrong. A late beta (from yesterday) works fine.

 Re: kas1e issue
I also had the same behavior as kas1e. Fresh install to a different folder than 3.0.

I'm away from the Amiga now. I've been waiting to see if anyone else had problems before I try to do anything about it.

 People with problems...
Can the people having problems please try the Aminet archive instead?
http://aminet.net/package/comm/www/netsurf

I built that one and uploaded it, and then realised I'd left the debugging symbols in, so it is actually different to the OS4 depot archive (which is the one AmiUpdate is using), and closer to the CI builds.

Can you also check the stack size is set to 65535?

I'm running the OS4Depot build here (ie. without debug) and not seeing this, however I will play around a bit more to see if I can reproduce it.

Thanks, I've repointed AmiUpdate towards the Aminet archive instead.

Chris,

I tried the Aminet file and no longer have the debug output problem. Posting with NS 3.1 now.

I updated it with AmiUpdate, no problems with output window, instead, here it happens that I can run NetSurf but if I close it and then re-open it immediatly it doesn't start and give me a GR.. I saved the crash log, give me your email with a pm and I can send you the crashlog. My system is a Sam440ep Mini-itx
