I was going to guess something along those lines; if 4 beta's code is already ported, it will be easier to integrate the changes to 4 when it is released as a stable version.

Thanks Hyperion for porting this program!

I own a uA1 system as well. I have disabled 2 of the USB ports, turned off compositing and changed the screen to 16-bit. When OS 4.1u2 sits idle, there are 25-26 MB of video memory free. It would be nice to pop in another video card, preferably one that supports DVI. Unfortunately since the manufacturer is no longer in existence and nobody seems to have any documentation on the bios, I don't have a lot of faith on any kind of update for it. It is a shame though, as it is a very quick machine and is capable of running OS4.x.

I had trouble with the aminet download version of PPaint, but I have not had any problem with the version that comes on Amiga Forever 6. I do believe that I have to use the 68000 version of the program. (even though there is a 68020 version included) It is extremely fast.

I changed my "SetPatch QUIET" line to "SetPatch ADDCHIPRAM=2 QUIET" and now PPaint no longer gives an error about starting up in "Memory Save Mode."

@ChrisH

I'll add my vote for the power supply. I've seen the PSU as the cause of this many times before.

The monitor that I have has a standard VGA port, so there are no DVI connectors or adapters involved. The monitor is a Dell IN1910N. I also tried with my Acer AL2017, which has a native resolution of 1400x1050. (that the A1 has no problem acheiving) Both of these monitors report the horizontal resolution as 1280.

I just tried DDC mode and it works. It is strange that I couldn't define it manually. Oh well I am glad that it worked!

Thanks for you help!

Micro A1 graphics question
Just popping in

Posts: 18

I hope this is the correct forum for this. I am having a problem with my Micro A1. I am running OS4 update 2. (although this has been an issue since plain 4.1, not sure about 4.0) I have an LCD panel monitor with a native resolution of 1366 x 768. I made a screenmode for this monitor with that width and height. However, the monitor reports that the computer is outputting 1280 x 768 regardless of what I do. Is there some imposed limit on the aspect ratio of what the graphics chip can render? It seems like 1366 x 768 is a rather common resolution. Has anyone else had this issue? Advice?

Thanks in advance.

Cables Unlimited USB 2.0 to IDE & SATA cable. Works fine at 1.1 speeds on MicroA1 with OS4.1u1.

For best results, I use the included power supply even for 2.5" IDE drives as not to pull too much current through the USB port.

Maybe market it to mainstream amateur programmers or geeks in general as the ultimate platform for not only software programming, but also hardware programming. That way, there will not only be a lot of new software available, but also a lot more people to think of ideal uses for Xena. Just a thought.

@nbache

I found what seems to be a Diamond Fireport card from 1997 that has a large chip that says: SYMBIOS LOGIC 53C875J.

I installed it in the PCI slot, but the computer does not dectect it.

It looks like there is an lsi53cxx.library.kmod file in kickstart already. I did not even see the drive available in the early startup control screen. The drive should be fine and have 3 FFS partitions from the Amiga 3000 on it.

Is there some setting I have to change in uboot or devs to get the card to be recognized?

Of course it could be the micro being a snotty princess again.

Thanks,
Jamie

@nbache

Well I just had one I rescued from a dead PC and thought I would give it a try. It did not like when I used the internet. When listening to any audio and accessing the internet simultaneously, it would crash and give a horrendous high pitch squeal through the SB card. I am ok with the onboard audio.

I am hoping for the X1000 to come out soon and be affordable. I love my micro but it is hard dealing with the 32MB video ram.

As for the SCSI card I will see what I have. I have a lot of old PC parts.

@Fogg_80

Hmm I will try it and report my findings. I hope it goes better than trying that SB Live card. I didn't know I could hear that high of a pitch!

Micro AmigaOne and SCSI

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has tried to install a SCSI card on the Micro A1's PCI slot? Is SCSI supported? I got my hot little hands on an Adaptec AVA-2906 card. I would venture a guess that this card is from the mid/late-90s. It has a 50 pin connector on top and 25 pin connector on the rear. I would like to transfer some files from my A3000 hard drive to the Micro A1.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi all,

I am relatively new to this forum as well. I recently acquired a friend's Micro AmigaOne. (750GX model) I live in the southern part of Wisconsin, USA.

My full complement of amigas:
Micro A1 750GX 800, 512 MB, 320GB, OS 4.1u1
A3000T 040/40, 16MB, 36GB, RTG, OS 3.9 BB2
A1200 060/50, 16MB, 4GB CF card HDD, OS 3.1
A2500 030/25, 4.5MB, 500MB HDD, OS 2.1

I am also very interested in analog audio formats; Vinyl, cassette, open reel, etc..

@328gts

My friend installed a cool program on my "new" uA1 called DiskImageGUI. I think it is available on either aminet or os4depot. Once installed, it appears in the Tools menu on Workbench and you can launch the GUI to mount up to 4 floppies, 2 CDs and it looks like 1 PC (cross dos?) disk image.
